Science Museum

London's Science
Museum is the heart of the United Kingdom's National Museum of Science
& Industry, which has facilities throughout England.
Dr.
Lindsay Sharp, the Director of the National Museum, asked
Strategic Leisure to assist his staff in the conceptual, economic
and physical planning of commercial activity in the East Hall of
the Museum. The British government had asked the Museum, and other
cultural attractions, to provide the public with free admission.
In response to this mandate, and as part of an institution-wide
strategic planning process, Lindsay wanted a plan to generate earned
revenue from the public's entrance and exit sequence through the
grand, old East Hall and its appurtenances.
Strategic Leisure completed a development strategy which contained
a merchandising/leasing plan, identified opportunities for the physical
expansion of the Museum's "corporate hire" business (special
event rentals and catering), and recommended a concept involving
a combination of corporate sponsored exhibits and food & beverage.
